Dr. Mark Nelson
Dr. Mark Nelson, B.Sc, M.Sc, BV.Sc was born and raised in Calgary. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology at the University of Calgary in 2008. Mark then continued his education at the University of Calgary with a Masters of Science with his research focused on the aging of the nervous system.
Mark first joined the Fish Creek 24 Hr Pet Hospital team in 2002 when he started volunteering as a kennel hand. Soon after, he was offered a job as a kennel tech and eventually advanced to the position of veterinary assistant. In 2012, under the support and encouragement of Dr. Charlotte Whale and others at Fish Creek, Mark pursued his passion for veterinary medicine and moved to New Zealand to start a Bachelor of Veterinary Science at Massey University. It was here that Mark developed his skills in veterinary medicine and developed his interest in emergency critical care. Now Mark has returned to Canada and has rejoined his family at Fish Creek.
Outside of work, you'll most likely find Mark running and cycling through Fish Creek or relaxing with his cat Kiwi.
